inspirations...

okay so I sort of have an obsession with curves, architecture, nature and natural materials. This combines them all, i love this! I will definitely be paying a visit to barrier island, Florida just to see/stay in this.

This obsession has been influencing my work for a while, especially for one of my projects, the student lighting awards. For his project i used influences from nature, shells etc and architecture like the Sydney Opera House. The light involves an interlocking shell like cover, where the light can be fully or partly covered.

A little sketch drawing explaining the function of the light

Sketch up model of the light, vac formed overlapping pieces, fully open position

Partly open position

Closed position

From the initial idea i created a family of lights, free-standing floor light and a hanging ceiling light (shown above)

My final presentation board.
