enchanted shadows....
This piece that can be hung from the ceiling as a lamp shade, in the daylight it can certainly be seen as a piece of art, but when the night comes it is so much more. When light shines through the intricate design it creates an atmosphere in a seemingly normal room, for most is reminds people of scary childhood stories about enchanted forests, but for me it is the total opposite. I love how cleverly designed this piece has been, not only is it a feature in your room but it creates a whole new interior when darkness falls, which can be accentuated or minimised by being able to control the light levels. Products like this is what I aspire to design in the future, I love it! Well done Thyra Hildon and Pio Diaz!

Mesmerized by Tent London already!
So the run up to Tent London has begun and something has already caught my eye, well how could this unique decorating method of furniture not catch your attention. Decorated one piece at a time, this furniture is covered in individual flattened pieces of straw. It creates a beautiful effect by the iridescentness of the straw which catches and reflects light but when it is arranged to create geometric patterns it transforms flat surfaces into new objects of volume.
I cant bring myself to imagine exactly how long it takes to create these beautifully intricate pieces but im sure it is reflected in the price tag, which I believe it is rightly deserved. If I can afford a piece like this I would definately invest but most of all I would love to give this technique a go sometime....major project next year :)???

Hogarths Hotel!!!
Okay so while I was working the long (bu enjoyable) hours at NEC it was a welcome treat by the end of the day to return to such a beautiful hotel, it was gorgeous!!! Nothing like what I expected, a modest room in a hotel in the middle of the city, it was a gorgeously decorated, spacious, modern yet quirky...and that was just my room :). We really got treated by our financial director :).
I would definately recommend Hogarths and I would love to be able to go back there for a long weekend!
Obviously taking advantage of the bed :) |
The personal touch- loved the design magazines left in my room! |
one crazy table.... |
Absolutely gorgeous! I love the flock of individual birds for lighting!!! |
Eye catching and contemporary light in the bar area... |

Willis & Gambier at NEC....
Not only was I overly excited because I had never had the opportunity to visit NEC Interiors UK before, but it was also my firsty ever business trip! I got the chance to travel to Birmingham with Willis & Gambier to help them out on their biggest trade shows of the year! Liasing with possible clients, giving information about the ten W&G ranges and thirteen Originals ranges that where on our stand aswell as maning the refreshments and keeping an eye out for the new trends of 2013! So it was a pretty hectic trip, but I loved working on the stand, talking to our customers about our products, some that I have even had the input towards the designs. As I could only stay there for a couple of days it was wierd to feel sad when I had to leave, I didnt want to leave, I found it so much fun eventhough they were long days (8am-6pm!).
Our stand was massive! One of the biggest in the hall where we were located. It was great to walk into the stand on the first day and to see all of the ranges together!
Seeing all of the advertising and marketing pieces in the stand was also great, especially as in the previous couple of days before the show I was making all of them.
I had such a great time at NEC, and experiencing it has kinda made me think about what I want to do in the future, I would love to be working within Willis & Gambier if the opportunity arose after I finish uni, to be able to see your designs made and sold at shows like this was a great feeling.

amazing mosaic furniture...
So this is something that brightened up my morning, when I found these amazing pieces of furniture that are adorned in beautiful, reflective stainless steel mosaic pieces. This contemporary range that cant help but catch your eye would be a great addition to any vibrant room, like I say about every piece I post on here I love them :) well done Phillips Collection with their Crazycut series!

seven years bad luck?
As my obssession with mirrored furniture continues, I discovered the work of Fernando and Humberto with their 'scrigno' family of shattered glass objects. They have such a high aesthetical quality to them but at the same time I dont think it is too in your face, standing out in any environment for the wrong reasons. Its simple and clean and the cut shapes make it catch your eye. I love how they can reflect objects and light around your environment, making them in a way blend in with your current surroundings. I love pieces like this and if its in anyway possible I would definately consider trying to do something like this for my final project next year.

jealous of jake....
Wow! So at work yesterday we had our monthly subscription of ELLE Decoration arrive, the stunning work of Jake Phipps definately stood out for me. I was greeted on the contents page by 'Stellar' a beautiful, polished stainless steel piece, that is encrusted with 900 mirrored sections that run all the way through the piece. I would absolutely love to design something like this! A modern contemporary piece that isnt just straight lines, but a stunning mixture of clean cut lines and all the charm and beauty of a highly decorated piece. Unfortunately I dont think I will ever be able to own one of these, as there are only 25 variations available, reflecting on the price tag of £11,500! But if I ever win the lottery I would definately think about splashing some cash on this gorgeous piece.
